Harvest Manitoba (formerly Winnipeg Harvest) works with a network of over 350 agencies across the province to bring one million pounds of food each month to those who need it. They also lead education and advocacy efforts related to poverty and food security.

Increasing income through employment is one way to overcome economic barriers to food security posed by insufficient social assistance. With support from the Centre, Manitoba Harvest will kick-start a warehouse training program to provide opportunities for food bank clients to gain new skills and work experience that will allow them to participate in the labour market, earn more money and improve their financial and food security. Clients who are able and willing to enter the workforce will be supported through classroom learning and hands-on employment training at Manitoba Harvest and with local private sector partners, paid stipends to support students when they transition from EIA to employment income, connections to peer support and wrap-around services, and job placement that will encourage retention and completion.
